Java Monkey Speaks says
Join us for a historical night as our fearless leader Kodac Harrison passes the torch to Theresa Davis and is her first feature as host of Java Monkey Speaks.

Those of you who know Kodac, understands the accomlishments and committment Kodac Harrison has made to the poetry/spoken word community. Hosting one of the most diverse open mics for 15 1/2 years, is not about a job, it's about passion and a love for the art that hits the stage (most of it anyway,l lol). I am honored to continue this tradition, and Java Monkey will continue to speak, every Sunday night!

About our Feature

Kodac Harrison grew up in Jackson, Ga. and after earning a BS from Ga. Tech, and a MBA from Tulane, he committed himself to a life as an artist. He played his first professional gig at “East of Eden” in Salinas, California. Kodac held the visiting McEver Chair of Poetry at Ga. Tech in 2010. In 2013, he released his first book, which is a retrospective of poems and lyrics entitled The Turtle and the Moon. In late 2014, Kodac released his 17th musical recording entitled, The Lucky One. In the winter of 2015, Senate Records released an audio version of his book. Kodac has been chairman of Poetry Atlanta for 12 years and host of the award winning Java Monkey Speaks for 15 plus years.
