Perspectives On German Opera: "A People Discover Its Voice" says
Join us for our latest lecture in our Perspectives on German Opera series with Mr. David Kerr.
The 19th century witnessed a surge in nationalism, a source of instability in some regimes while being an invigorating force for others. As a popular medium, opera inevitably reflected this development.

This lecture, entitled "A People Discover Its Voice" will look at examples of nationalism in the German, Italian, and French operatic traditions: Weber's "Der Freisch├╝tz," Verdi's "Nabucco," and Donizetti's "La Fille du r├ęgiment."

The course will be taught in English. No pre-existing knowledge of music required.

Admission:
$30 for members who register in advance;
$35 for members at the door;
$45 for non-members
