“RITUAL # 9” A multimedia performance and group exhibition based on nine artists' perspectives of RITUAL. The Blue Mark Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of “Ritual # 9” (Thursday February 19, 2015 7:00PM to 9:30PM ) A multimedia performance and group exhibition of Atlanta based artists curated by Shana Robbins. Opening night will include a CD release party for Shana Robbins and the Nomadic Love Mesa, with Alberto Roman, Scott Buck, and Don Whitaker, a showcase of visual art works from Shana Robbins, Aubrey Longley-Cook, Alberto Roman, Kirstin Mitchell, Orion Crook, Stephanie Pharr, Solongo Monkhooroi, and Thomas Fletcher, and a musical performance ritual including Shana Robbins, Alberto Roman, Scott Buck, Don Whitaker, Stephanie Pharr, Orion Crook, Xee Xee Bow Dong, Jared Dawson, and Thomas Fletcher. Contemporary art protocols and rituals sustain inclusive, immersive, and transformational practices. Putting forth a heterotopic environment in which resonances emerge between various art methodologies (music, painting, performance, sculpture, dance/movement, word, optics) novel forms of ritualized space emerge. In proximity, and in service to perennial concerns around love, death, sex, identity, and the social, art tribes make possible aesthetic, personal, and philosophical breakthroughs. Of relevance, is an expansive exploration of the term “Habitat” which passes through non-human species to the Cosmic.
