Murmur says
We are artists between cultures, on the borders of Latino, Hispanic, and American.

On the borders of Spanish and English.

On the border of Brown and white, morenos o blancos.

On the borders of South, and South American or the Caribbean.

On the border of community within a larger Latinx world with or without intention.

On the border of visible and invisible.

Border Artists is a group show of Atlanta’s Latinx artists, coming together in a somewhat unspoken unity, displaying fluid notions of identity within the multi-cultures of our experience. Embedded by a similar history, but not mechanistically determined by it, none of us speaks for every latino and it’s impossible to reduce our cultural identities to a simplistic paradigm. Bold works that can never truly be extricable from the political- using art as a weapon, within the era of cultural capital; to explore our identities, express our identities, and take our identities back.
