Advanced Wax Working With Steve Kriechbaum

Saturday + Sunday, March 14-15, 10-6pm Prerequisite: Lost Wax Casting w. Courtney Gray Work with wax wire, shank and sheet to build intricate rings or pendants to be cast in precious metal. Learn how to attach and carefully build up your design using small wax components. See the difference and benefits to fabricating with wax versus carving down from a solid wax block. Come get all the best tricks for surface embellishment on wax! Even to use rolling mill for custom texturing and imprinting designs on this malleable material. Steve will also demonstrate how to carve for gemstones. Saturday will focus on wax working, and investing your pieces. Sunday students will cast their pieces in Argentium, or sterling silver. (Feel free to bring your own casting grain.) Time permitting, students will also set their stones in the cast pieces. Gemstones and casting grain are not included in tuition.
