Birth Story Medicine Workshop In Austin

February 17 & 18 (Tues/Wed.), from 10 am to 5 pm. This two-day workshop is designed for anyone who listens to birth stories, particularly new or experienced professionals who work with families in the childbearing year (midwives, doctors, doulas, nurses, childbirth educators, yoga instructors, therapists, lactation consultants, etc.). Our workshop will forever change the way you think about the power of birth stories. Participants will learn about Birthing From Within's approach to listening to and healing birth stories. Experience the paradigm-shifting power of Birth Story Medicine as Virginia presents a powerful original model, leads one of the experiential processes, and guides you in new ways to respond to a disappointed, angry, or confused mother. When you listen to mothers who are guilty, upset, or sad about their experience of giving birth, do you feel angry, stuck, or speechless? Is it hard to listen deeply to them, because you only hear the judgments, advice, and confusion in your own mind? These questions will open a lively discussion, demonstration, and practice as you explore the dynamic between the storyteller and the story-listener, and how to listen deeply to the heart of the story (rather than the details).
