Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center says
Following the premier of the documentary “No Mas Bebes” at the Alamo Draft House Cinema on November the 1st in Austin, there will be a welcome reception and discussion with Academy Award®-nominated director Renee Tajima-Peña, producer/historian Virginia Espino, and some of the subjects featured in the documentary.

No Más Bebés (No More Babies) tells the story of a little known, but landmark moment in women’s history and the struggle for reproductive rights, a drama that unfolded four decades ago in Los Angeles. The film recounts how a small group of Mexican immigrant mothers and activists sued county doctors, the state, and the U.S. government after they were sterilized while giving birth at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center during the late 1960s and 1970s.
