Alex Sheen will be visiting the University of Texas at Austin campus to give a speech on the importance of a promise. Alex is a three-time TEDxTalk presenter and Founder of because I said I would, an international social movement dedicated to promises made and kept. Alex Sheen will be accompanied on stage by Sam and Alex Kimura. These two sisters are currently on a journey through all 50 states to find a Bone Marrow donor match for Sam. Sam, the youngest sister, as Aplastic anemia, a rare and life threatening blood disorder.

Since their road trip began in January, Sam and Alex have signed up 13,873 people for the registry. From their efforts alone, 115 bone marrow matches have been discovered. Unfortunately, none of these matches were for Sam. On the road, Sam takes 20 pills a day to hold off her disease. Alex is supportive, like a big sister should be.
