FuckUp Nights Austin says
Hello Austin!

We're bringing you the third volume of the Austin FuckUp Nights and we're excited you're going to join us!

Fuckup Nights is a global movement born in Mexico in 2012 to share publicly business failure stories. Hundreds of people attend each event to hear three to four entrepreneurs share their failures. Each speaker is given 7 minutes and is able to use 10 images. After each speaker, there’s a question/answer session, as well as time for networking.

Vol. III is a free event. You just need to bring yourself and a friend! We'll provide some drinks and the entertainment!

We need to say thank you to MonkeyWrench for letting us use their space for the event. It's a great space!

Two Speakers Include:

Elijah May, The Experience Firm

I'm obsessed with solving problems. In particular, the problem of how we treat each other.

In my career, I've negotiated with Hollywood studios, coordinated with the United States Secret Service, managed celebrity events, facilitated CEO roundtables, lectured at colleges and universities, testified as an expert witness on branding, served on multiple city boards and committees, moderated numerous conferences, created a ground-breaking fastpitch event for social innovators, and piloted a public speaking program for an international corporation. If there's one thing I've become convinced of, it's that great people are those with great purpose who allow for great possibilities.

The mission of my firm is to make things better. We work with experience-minded people who believe that products and processes are made for people, and not the other way around. Experience-minded people are our tribe.

I refer to myself a troublemaker because progress often requires shaking things up. As Stephen Covey says, you can't talk your way out of a situation you've behaved yourself into, so if you want me to help you, you're going to have to start thinking about and doing things differently.

Laura Beck, StripedShirts

Laura Beck is a 20+ year public relations and marketing vet who worked for 18 years with big agencies, including opening up and growing Porter Novelli's Austin office to $3M billings. On the brink of turning 40, she threw caution to the wind and left it all to start stripedshirt, a business dream of nearly 20 years. Literally, really, stripedshirts, for women, kids and babies. $100K+ investment and thousands of shirts later, she gave up as loudly and publicly as you can, with her stripedshirt kickstopper, launched end of May 2015. She continues doing PR consulting, and trying to move shirts out of her garage.
