Out Of The Flames Of Ferguson: Organizing Against The Police In Houston, Texas says
Following the murder of Mike Brown, the protests and riots in Ferguson sparked a national rebellion against police brutality. In Houston, many people participated in the largest demonstrations, unpermitted snake marches, and confrontations with police the city had seen in years. We watched as Oakland, NYC and Berkeley followed suit. And beyond the major cities, many smaller actions were not widely reported on, but had an equal impact on local levels. As a new rebellion has ben taking place in the streets of Baltimore, many of us are wondering: what next?

The Houston-based group, Out of the Flames of Ferguson (OOTFF), is one example of what is possible beyond demos and marches. At this event, OOTFF organizers will report back on the movement in Houston and will offer insights and lessons for continuing the struggle to fight police violence and white supremacy.
