Press Conference And Hearing On The 2015 City Of Austin Budget says
Austin Interfaith asks you to join us as we call on the Mayor and City Council Members to invest in children, human development, and neighborhood parks, pools, and libraries. The proposed city budget includes no significant new investments to address our poverty rate. It would hire 85 new police officers, while cutting after school programs. Our budget would spend 70% of the general fund on public safety, and less than 1% on early childhood. We believe that public safety is an important investment, but only one of our critical needs. Investments in children, youth, living wages, and affordable housing are also public safety investments. Arrive at 3:15pm for our 3:30pm press conference, and then the first 2015 public hearing on the city budget will begin at 4pm. We hope to finish by 7pm.
