P.s Plan to arrive early, to avoid parking frustrations. About PURE VIBZ House Band: ROLAND & THE ROOTS RIDDIM Roland & The Roots Riddim band hails from Austin, Texas. A group of talented musicians, all lovers of Reggae music, played music together for the first time. From the first note they shared, the musical chemistry was obvious to every band member. The sum is greater than the parts with this band. Since that auspicious beginning, the group has built its repertoire and has been gigging all over Austin. When this crew takes the stage, dancing fans and smiling club owners alike have been awash in positive vibrations. “We know we have something special,” comments the leader of the band, Roland Kemokai. Kemokai himself brings the influence of his own unique life story, his African culture, and his mixture of talents to the Roots Riddim. In addition to being a high energy front-man, a powerful singer, a multi-instrumentalist and a songwriter, he is also a published author, certified life coach and an in-demand speaker. Born in a tribal village in Liberia, Roland was discarded on a dump-pile as a baby. He struggled through poverty, abuses, and a violent civil war utilizing remarkable gifts of strength and perseverance. Now, through his music he shares his beliefs in the power of forgiveness, positive thinking, and the potential for greatness within us all. These qualities have resonated with all the band members, who each have a strong work ethic and the belief that through their music they can contribute both locally to their community and more broadly to a hurting world. Though still early in its musical journey, Roland & The Roots Riddim is establishing itself in the Austin music scene as an entertaining, danceable, authentic roots reggae band with the potential to grow into a regional and national act.
