The John L. Warfield Center for African and African American Studies says
Month of Sundays: CHEEKY LaSHAE Sings Black Sabbath, Part 1 of 4. CHEEKY LaSHAE will relate the many connections between itself, Karaoke Universal and Black Sabbath in a four-part lecture series; the first of which will be presented at the New Directions in Anthropology Graduate Student Conference at The University of Texas at Austin. It is likely that the audience will be astounded at the simpatico between CHEEKY LaSHAE-as-a-black-female-figure-artistic-model and the philosophical/ musical underpinnings of Black Sabbath, but CHEEKY will soldier on, unaffected by the brilliance of these epiphanies. Concerning itself with the typical heavy metal questions of, “Who is Satan, really?” “Is black the color of love?” and “Is hair a requirement for effective head banging?” CHEEKY LaSHAE will explore these queries, among others, through text, sight and song. Black attire is strongly encouraged.
