The collections of the Museum of World Cultures contain a range of works and objects from the diverse cultures of Africa, Oceania, Asia, and South and Central America. Since the late 19th century, objects have been acquired through municipal initiatives and private collecting, which has a strong tradition in the city. Two buildings in Barcelona’s Carrer Montcada house the museum that opened in February 2015. The medieval-origin Nadal and Marquès de Llió noble underwent refurbishment to return them to their former glory and use as museum spaces.
