Green Velvet was born Curtis Jones in Chicago, one of the meccas of techno, which was also historically a seat of funk music thanks to the likes of George Clinton and Parliament. In the late 1980s, fully engulfed in the world of house music, Jones started working as a producer under the name Cajmere, but he's still best known on the techno circuit as Green Velvet, a project of his that's substantially harder than Cajmere.
