The five-star luxury Grand Hotel Central reformulated the gastronomic offerings in their restaurant in spring 2016. City Restaurant boasts a menu designed by hotel chef-manager Sergi Fernández, who has previously worked with Petit Comité and Majestic, among other top spots. The day-to-day of the restaurant is controlled by Alberto Vicente, a chef who has run some of the city's best places to eat, including Caelis, Petit Comité and Silken Diagonal.
The menu at City Restaurant takes on the task of explaining the Barcelona culinary imagination to the rest of the world, with reinvented traditional dishes, such as the meatball stew with foie and hazelnuts, the cod cocotte, the roast-chicken croquettes and the canellonni which are grilled with truffled bechamel. You'll also find foreign influences such as grilled Peking duck–style Iberian feather loin served with wafers to enjoy as finger food.
Luxury comes at a price, but not an obscene one: the tasting menu will cost you €50 to €60 and you'll get a feast you won't forget.
