With its simple look, missable façade and paper tablecloths, Kaiku looks a world apart from the upmarket seafood restaurants that pepper this 'barrio', but its dishes are sophisticated takes on the sea-side classics. At Kaiku, a salad starter comes with shavings of foie or red fruit vinaigrette, and paella is given a rich and earthy spin with wild mushrooms. Book ahead, particularly for any chance of reserving one of the terrace tables that look out across the lovely beach. There are plans to start opening for dinner from mid 2013.
