On a mission to bring people together, Absolut Vodka has created an online Travellers Exchange. Anyone and everyone is invited to share their tips and recommendations on the places they love in their home cities. Absolut has marked this mission with a new limited edition, Absolut World, a collectable bottle of its award-winning Original Vodka, designed by Swedish illustrator Kari Modén (below). Available exclusively in major airports for a limited time, it’s a treasure only a traveller can uncover – making it a gift worth sharing with family and friends on your next travels.

To get involved, simply upload a selfie to reveal a mosaic made up of other travellers that will unlock local hotspots from around the world.

Here in Berlin, we asked local editors to share brand new places they think are worthy of a spot on Absolut’s neon world map.

Enjoy Absolut responsibly.

Berlin’s Travellers Exchange-worthy hotspots

Curated shops meet frolicking monkeys in the adjacent Berlin Zoo: welcome to Bikini Berlin, the city’s first concept mall. This year the minds behind the urban development success story rolled out another bright idea: a permanent food market billed as a ‘design food court.’ Translation: pure social media fodder. Local designer Werner Aisslinger headed up the 19,300-square-foot interior, featuring pastel accents, lush green plants, and creative seating options – from swings to extra-long benches.  Permanent stalls include 13 international eateries from ten different countries. Staying true to the experimental nature of the space, two additional stalls will be rotating popups. It’s the bird's-eye view that makes this space unforgettable. A 60-foot-long,10-foot-wide window has a panoramic view of the Berlin Zoo’s bird aviaries.

“I’m an old-ish man,” says Shaul Margulies, half of the team behind popular Berlin restaurants Zenkichi and House of Small Wonder, on the unexpected hours of his new cocktail bar. It’s hidden down stairs behind an unassuming door, speakeasy style, in the Mitte district. The soundtrack hums with the retro disco, funk and soul and the dimly lit space is styled in a nostalgic tribute to a Brooklyn house party. So far, so usual, except that the venue is open 9am to 8pm Saturday and Sunday, and 6pm to midnight on Tuesday and Thursday – oh-so-civilized for up late, out late Berlin.

In 2017, Anomalie Art Club returned much-needed cultural grit to Berlin’s Prenzlauer Berg, with revolving art exhibitions and yoga held in the sprawling halls of a car repair shop. Earlier this year, upscale vegetarian restaurant LAMIFA made its debut at the 21,500-square-foot art and event space. Now, just in time for summer, there’s Anomalie Art and Beer Garden, a concrete yard softened by greenery, light and art installations, with reclaimed wood furnishings. The launch includes a packed calendar of food and drink events, live entertainment, and outdoor movie screenings.
