Your home away from home is one of 1,200 luxury rooms, each of which is—at minimum—450 square feet, which may or may not be about double the size of your city digs. (The spacious marble bathrooms are studio-size themselves.) If you can bear to leave the room, congratulate yourselves and toast to your good fortune with a drink at MIST, an open-plan night club beneath a stunning 35-foot indoor water wall.

Plan to have a romantic dinner at Bobby Flay’s Bar Americain. The restaurant, with its warm, retro-tinged vibe, fills up fast with diners eager to sample masterpieces inspired by Flay’s travels through the country. The fried chicken signature dish is scrumptious for sure, but our top pick is the lobster—pre-shelled for no mess, fuss or date-night drama—in a buttery aioli. Order both to share along with a side of the too-good-to-be-veggies brussels sprouts. If you still have room for dessert, the crème brûlée is a no-brainer. Make reservations upon your arrival at the hotel to nab a table.

Mohegan Sun’s 10,000-seat Arena consistently attracts some of the world’s top tours. Taylor Swift, Black Sabbath and Beyoncé herself have made recent appearances. If you didn’t spring for big-name tickets, catch some free, live entertainment at the Wolf Den. Think up-and-coming musicians and classic artists, lots of dancing and a more intimate feel, thanks to just 350 seats.

Get to know the hotel’s third floor. The 22,000 square-foot Elemis Spa, located here—stocked with Elemis and Bliss Spa products—offers otherworldly-sounding treatments such as the Frangipani Nourishing Hair and Scalp Treatment and the Elemis Aroma Stone Therapy, all designed to pamper and beautify. This floor also includes the gym, a full-service salon and a panoramic indoor pool with an outdoor deck. Top off an evening with a side-by-side, full-body couple’s massage, then head outside to cozy up in a cabana where the fire pit is lit at 7pm nightly.

In case you didn’t bring a thing with you, the 40 shops at Mohegan Sun—from Coach and Lush to Brookstone and Dylan’s Candy Bar—have you covered. And even if you did have the forethought to pack at least an overnight bag, a little souvenir shopping never hurt anyone.
