Alex Wilson (Shag Rock)

Alex Wilson will be making a solo appearance minus his band mates from the Brissy surf-rock outfit, Shag Rock.

Surf, beer and music is Shag Rock’s go.

Started in 2012 at high school, they released an independent EP, Little Primitive, in 2014. Shag Rock was signed to Ian Haug’s (Powderfinger and The Church) label Airlock Records in early 2015. They released their successful self-titled mini-album in April this year, with the single Champagne hitting the national airwaves.

Inspired by the beats of Sticky Fingers, Angus and Julia Stone, Jack Johnson, Ben Howard and the rock ‘n’ roll awesomeness of Powderfinger, ‘the Shaggers’ have been busy plying their music in and around Brisbane and Northern NSW for the past year. Supporting bands like Ocean Alley, Jinja Safari, Lurch and Chief, Sea Legs, Belligerents, Lime Cordiale, and even UK ’80s rockers Jesus Jones as they swung through Brissy and NSW on tour.

Shag Rock are now in pre-production for their 3rd EP which is due for release in 2016. Alex Wilson will be playing some stripped-back acoustic versions of some old tunes, and some new tunes that have never been heard before.
