This event is 6.00pm for a 6.30pm start. Drinks and nibbles will be served.

Join Where the Wild Things Are Bookshop and The Children's Book Council of Australia - QLD Branch for a special event for all Young Adult and Children’s book lovers. The CBCA Book Slam is a chance for you to have a say in the books that make it onto the CBCA prize shortlist for best Children’s and Young Adults books of 2015.

At the Book Slam you’ll have two minutes to tell the judges why your favourite book deserves to be shortlisted. The Book Slam is open to all ages, and you can team up with a partner or group to deliver your slam – bonus points for the creativity of your presentation! You’re also welcome to join us just to watch the slams and find out about great kids/YA books you might have missed last year, though there’ll be plenty of bookish prizes for the best/most entertaining slams of the night!

The book you choose MUST have been released in 2015, written for children or young people under the age of 18, and written, illustrated or otherwise created by an Australian citizen or resident.
