The Triffid says
Darren Middleton is best known for his contributions to the legacy of Australian music as the guitarist in iconic Brisbane band Powderfinger who took the nation by storm dominating the Australian charts from their humble beginnings in 1992, right up until their disbanding in 2010. Now, Middleton steps out solo once again, announcing release of his upcoming album Splinters, a follow up to his 2013 full length debut solo album Translations. But, he’s not doing it all solo! Gifting his hometown with a show not to be missed, Brisbane fans will be lucky enough to have the opportunity to experience Darren Middleton live on November 7th in a unique guise as he celebrates the launch of his brand new album Splinters with a couple of his closest mates! The launch will take place at Brisbane’s newest live music venue The Triffid, which is owned by John Collins (also a former member of Powderfinger) and coincides with the venues first birthday celebrations. Taking to the stage alongside Middleton will be Ian Haug (The Church & Powderfinger) Mark Wilson (Jet), Marty Brown (Clare Bowditch), Sahara Beck, Karl S. Williams plus many more of Darren Middleton’s closest mates to be announced! With each new song on the forthcoming album, Darren sheds a splinter of his soul, carving unique stories that join together in creating a solid body of work that has as much depth as the strongest of heartwood. Featuring many guests including Sahara Beck, Guy Pearce, Talei Wolfgramm, Mia Wray and Missy Higgins, this upcoming release is relatable and touches on many themes and relationships; the relationship we have with our inner self, friends, lovers, in business, the world and society. As Darren Middleton explains: “All of our life is a relationship, an ever evolving and changing landscape of security, safety, hurdles, loss and discovery and both with Translations and Splinters, I am basically looking at my journey so far and laying it bare in songs.” Fans that pre-order the ‘Splinters’ album due out on November 6th via Itunes will receive an automatic download of the first 3 singles and 2 previously unreleased tracks in the lead up to release.
