Brisbane Jazz Club says
Ewan MacKenzie is a veteran of the Queensland music scene and though these days he is well known as a Django Reinhardt stylist, he has spent large chunks of his career playing a seamless blend of blues jazz and funk. His CD Turquoise was named Queensland Album of the Year in 1995, and the follow-up A Patch of Blue was R&B Album of the Year in 2001. His electric band now features old mates Robin Walsh on drums, Mick Thatcher on guitar, as well as Chris Hartley on keyboards and Miranda Deutsch on bass. They have released one CD to date – Alliance, recorded live at the Jazz Club in February 2014. The band’s performances feature improvisation imbued with passion, imagination and virtuosity.
