Human Remains In An Alpine Environment By Maxine Mellor says
An endangered, mountaintop tribe, and a researcher bent on preserving them – this is the story of the Finfins as it was never meant to be told. With only three Finfins remaining, their unique, patchwork culture looks poised to die out.

Anthropologist Leland Scully desperately wants to record their ways so they may live forever, but the Finfins believe they are meant to disappear.’ This is a tale of life and death, assimilation and independence, and of myth versus reality.

To the strange tune of a new language, acquired piecemeal by the audience through odd rituals and a quasi-scientific investigation, it asks us to examine how we live and leave our mark on the world’.

This play was developed through La Boite Theatre Company's Resident Artist program in 2013, and through Playwriting Australia's National Script Workshop in 2014.
