Internationally acclaimed Brisbane author Angela Slatter is in-conversation with Errol Bray for the launch of his latest novel: The Quarters.

Civil war in Sydney. Half a million homeless versus the rest. A vengeful defender of the wretched poor - The Hero - fights for them ruthlessly.

Meanwhile, Emma - a minor public servant - creates a scheme to house a thousand homeless in an abandoned hospital. With Adrian, the organiser, and heart-on-sleeve Nat, Emma battles to make The Quarters a safe haven for her residents. Then The Hero moves in and everything becomes too exciting and too dangerous...

Errol Bray has worked in theatre for forty years as a playwright, director, arts administrator, festival director, youth arts worker, lecturer/tutor. He was founding Artistic Director of Shopfront Theatre for Young People, Sydney; of World Interplay festival for young playwrights; of the Emerge Project, Brisbane for development of new playwrights. His plays have been produced internationally, most recently The Choir (2009) in London. His prize-winning novel, Berzoo, was published in 2011 by Clouds of Magellan, also publishers of his current novel The Quarters. Recently a 2-month exhibition of 40 years of his “Collage Diaries” was shown at New Farm Library, Brisbane.
