Party-friendly pub that draws a mixed clientele with its roster of live acts, DJ sets and music events

For much of its existence, The Plough Inn was something of a curiosity – a busy community-centric boozer famed for its links with the Easton Cowboys football and cricket teams (the former of which used to count Banksy among its members). However, since it was taken over by new management in 2012, The Plough has earned a reputation as Bristol’s best-kept secret – a party-friendly oasis in Easton’s largely uninspiring pub circuit.

Large and roomy, with eccentric decor, a covered backyard blessed with a mix of pub tables and sofas, and a stage ready-made for live performance and DJ sets, The Plough manages to be both a popular community pub and a party venue worth travelling to.

Its unique atmosphere is typical of Easton, and of Bristol in general. The crowd is undeniably mixed – both black and white, young and old, from rude boys and rastas, to students, thirtysomethings and crusties – and it’s rare that you’ll find any trouble. Some people come to play pool or watch football, others to socialise, and some to dance. This ability to cater to different groups of people is at the heart of The Plough’s appeal, though the drinks menu – a mix of locally sourced real ales, cheaper cans of beer and cider and industrial strength rum – undoubtedly helps.

The Plough’s weekend line-up of parties and music events is particularly special, too. People start dancing the moment the music starts booming out of the high quality sound system at around 10pm, and it tends to get sweatier from there on in. You can expect reggae, funk, soul and hip hop, of course, but also disco, boogie and house. In truth, whatever time of day you visit, a good time is guaranteed.

Best pub in Bristol. But it's the Easton Cowboys AND COWGIRLS thank you very much!

Aw, someone turned up late and expected to be let in immediately, so left a pissy review. The Plough, like any popular pub, staggers the number of customers let in, to give the bar staff space to breathe. Also, like any other pub, the regulars like myself get special treatment, as they spend a huge amount of money there. That's no secret. Deal with it. This place is the best pub in Bristol, hands down. That's because they don't tolerate entitled, stuck up morons. Have fun at The 'Jolly' Roger. Try not to get shot. P.S. *you're

Once again, unnecessary queuing, to see how later coming customers just arrived and were allowed in only because they were the doorman's friends... not fair to be honest... not a good place to spend your weekend, as you'll only be allowed in if you are a friend, or you look like Amy Winehouse (being respectful is not enough, you need to look cool, and be someone's friend).. head off to Jolly Rogers instead, if your looking for a nice relaxed atmosphere without the London look selection code...
