A new DIY comedy festival, this one explicitly inspired by the absence of Just for Laughs Chicago, is coming to three different neighborhoods July 11–13. The organizers of the Comedy Exposition of 2014 (one of whom, Matt Byrne, contributes comedy coverage to Time Out Chicago) launched a Kickstarter for the fest on March 27 and reached their initial goal of $3,000 within 24 hours; they've since upped the goal in hopes of adding more nationally touring stand-ups.

The fest will consist of showcases at multiple venues in a different ’hood each night: Lakeview on Friday July 11, Wicker Park on Saturday July 12 and Logan Square on Sunday July 13; the lineups will be a mix of local and out-of-state stand-ups chosen from submissions by the organizers (who also include Katie McVay, Stephanie Hasz, Zach Peterson and Goodrich Gevaart) and headliners—the first two of which were announced today: Sean Patton and Sean O'Connor, both of whom have appeared on Comedy Central's The Half Hour and @midnight and TBS's Conan, are the Exposition's first official bookings. Sample their work below.
