Sweet Potato Pie cocktail by Lynn House of Blackbird
Kids' mocktail
2 ounces brown-sugar whipped cream*
2 ounces of sweet potato puree
0.5 oz water
0.5 oz maple syrup
Brown sugar
1. Layer brown-sugar whipped cream in the bottom of a white-wine glass.
2. In a shaker with ice, combine sweet potato puree, water and maple syrup; shake until well chilled.
3. Strain mocktail mixture on top of whipped cream and do so while swirling the mixture.
4. Top with a little brown sugar.
Adult cocktail (also known as Kentucky Pie on Blackbird's cocktail menu)
Add to mocktail:
2 ounces good bourbon
1. Layer brown-sugar whipped cream in the bottom of a white-wine glass.
2. In a shaker with ice, combine sweet potato puree, bourbon, water and maple syrup; shake until well chilled.
3. Strain mocktail mixture on top of whipped cream and do so while swirling the mixture.
4. Top with a little brown sugar.
* To make brown-sugar whipped cream:
Whip heavy cream in a bowl, folding in brown sugar to sweeten.
