Halina’s Polish Delights (CLOSED)

This Polish staple’s simple, superb soups include creamy mushroom and borscht in a teacup, delivering a blast of beet and featuring an unexpected “egg roll” of liver paste on the side. The Polish Plate features the greatest hits of comfort foods: cabbage rolls, pork cutlet, tangy kielbasa, pierogi and dumplings. Surveying neighboring tables manned by Polish-speakers inspired us to order a delicious meaty pork shank with horseradish and sides of housemade pickles and sauerkraut. If you choose not to BYOB, sip a glass of kompot, a traditional Polish drink made by boiling dried fruits with sugar and water.
