Behind Chicago fashion: Larissa May

I started my blog Two years ago I developed a Tumblr for a personal expression of my thoughts, words, and pictures. My blog began as a secret. I began to receive messages from individuals telling me how I have inspired them. Therefore, I launched my Wordpress, Livin' Like Larz.

Why my blog is popular Many people call me a “flower child” since I am most frequently seen prancing around Chicago or L.A. in my handmade flower headbands. We send flowers to bring about positive energy and mentalities. Once these flowers die, the positive mentalities may diminish. My goal is to bring life-long positive energy.

My first post was about my best friend in high school and how she inspired me through her free spirit, open heart and youthfulness. She has always led me to follow my heart, my dreams, and live in the moment.

My day job I am a student at Vanderbilt University and I am a Market Maker/Co-founder of Chicago Flea MKT. Chicago Flea attempts to create a spin on the traditional flea market, and really create an upscale market experience—similar to a live Etsy.

First reader encounter The first time I was aware that I made a difference was when I received a message on Facebook from a young girl at my high school telling me how I inspired her. I was humbled by this experience, and I met with her for dinner, which I like to call an “Inspiration feast.”

Most fun collaboration Definitely my collab with J+Co LA. The clothing designs ROCK. The photos from the industrial shoot speak for themselves.

The celebrity I want to read my blog Blake Lively. She’s rad, also 5’10’’ and we have the same birthmark.

Best reader comment A reader commented, “You are a vision. A force to be reckoned with. A leader. A fighter. A burst of clarity. And, of course, an inspiration to us all.”

Other blogs I read Sincerely Jules (I’m interning for her this summer and she’s stellar), Fashion Toast, LeHappy and 5 Inch and Up.

Trend I wish would go away Ugg Boots...ughh.

Three favorite items in my closet My white Converse, definitely, because I personalized them myself with Sharpie, my patterned Rag & Bone jeans and my Swarowski Crystal Tarina Tarantino Barbie Jewelry.
