Lomography
Back in July, we excitedly reported the arrival of retro-inspired camera chain store Lomography. But then the alleged opening date came and went with not even a soft opening on the horizon. After several promises from publicists that the shop would be ready in August, Lomography finally opened this month with colorful Diana cameras, Holgas and hard-to-find Kodak film for sale. Besides the fact that it’s perfectly timed to the world’s obsession with Instagram, we love this store for its wall of photos of Chicago (taken by customers on Lomo cams) and its accessible workshops, where, for $10, novices can borrow a camera and roll of film to learn the ins and outs of different models. 1422 N Milwaukee Ave (872-206-2253, lomography.com).—Jessica Herman
