Casting is complete for the Chicago company of The Book of Mormon, the winner of the 2011 Tony Award for Best Musical as well as eight other Tonys. The Chicago production of the comedy by South Park honchos Trey Parker and Matt Stone and Avenue Q co-creator Robert Lopez, which plays the [node:32166 link=Bank of America Theatre;] starting December 11, is separate from the first national tour, which is currently at Los Angeles's Pantages Theatre.

Nic Rouleau, currently making his Broadway debut as straightlaced missionary Elder Price (the role originally played on Broadway by Andrew Rannells, now of NBC sitcom The New Normal), will reprise that role here. Socially awkward Elder Cunningham (the role originated by Josh Gad, now of NBC sitcom 1600 Penn) will be played by [node:15720141 link=Pitch Perfect;]'s Ben Platt.

Stephanie Umoh, a Theatre World Award winner for the recent Broadway revival of Ragtime, will play African ingenue Nabulungi, the role for which the Broadway cast's Nikki M. James won a Tony. Two more leading roles will be filled by Chicago actors: Steppenwolf ensemble member [node:14979241 link=James Vincent Meredith;] is Mafala Hatimbi, and Northwestern alum Jackson Evans (Drury Lane's Hairspray and Spamalot) will play Elder McKinley.

Christopher Shyer, David Aron Damane, J. Casey Barrett, Tallia Brinson, Rob Colletti, Patrice Covington, Camille Eanga-Selenge, Jake Emmerling, Mike Evariste, Donell James Foreman, Bradley Gale, Eric Giancola, Darius Harper, Eric Huffman, Corey Hummerston, Eric Jackson, Emily Jenda, Nick Laughlin, Stephen Mark Lukas, J. Paris Alexander Nesbitt, Monica Patton, John Pinto Jr., Jon-Michael Reese, Travis Robertson, Cessalee Stovall and Hardy Weaver comprise the ensemble. Performances are sold out through March 3, with tickets currently available for performances March 5–June 2. Most observers expect Book of Mormon, which has consistently been one of the top grossers on Broadway since opening in early 2011, to continue in Chicago beyond that date. See for ticket info.
