E. Patrick Johnson in Sweet Tea: Black Gay Men of the South

E. Patrick Johnson's solo performance draws from the interviews he conducted for his book of the same name, which he presents as an oral history of the Southern experience for gay men of color. Joseph Megel directs this staging for arts organization Project&. Reviewing a previous version of the show presented by About Face Theatre in 2010, we wrote that Sweet Tea was "an empathetic, often hugely entertaining collection of personal anecdotes that suffers from a scant sense of the people they belong to."
