Edison Park Turkey Trot
The festivities begin with a Gobble Gallop for kids under 12 at 8:30am, then adults get in on the action with a 5K at 9:30am. FYI for all of you  goodie bag–hoarders, the race tees are given out first-come, first-served this year. (We hope your turkey-day dinner has a more lenient agenda.) Bonfield Express 5K
This Thanksgiving Day run seems to draw the oddball or two (we’ve seen shirtless and gorilla-costumed runners). Capitalizing on the do-gooder spirit, this event has raised thousands for scholarships. Curtis and Washington Sts, Downers Grove ( Thu 24 at 8:30am. Advance $25, day of race $35.

Old St. Pat’s Annual Turkey Trot
Coach Mark Buciak has organized this 4- to 8-mile run or 5K walk (taking place before Mass) for those who don’t want to fork over $30 for a T-shirt but do look for that running buzz. It’s a casual crew and the only thing you must show up with is “a smile.” Old St. Patrick’s Church, 700 W Adams St between Halsted and Desplaines Sts (773-307-0033). Sign up is Thu 24 at 7:30am, running begins at 8am. FREE.

Long Grove Turkey Trot 5K and 8K
Run the downtown historic streets of Long Grove—finishing under the famous covered bridge. This year, they're touting the live band, beer, hot cider and new course. There’s also a kids dash for runners under 14 right after the 5K for adults. Thu 24 at 9am. Register at $36, kids under 14 $12.

(47th annual) Turkey Trot
Folks have been running this one since 1963! On Thanksgiving morning the Mt. Prospect Jaycees host this annual Turkey Trot for families in the community. The Mount Prospect Golf Course hosts the event. Thu 24: 1 mile race begins at 9:15am, 2 mile at 9:30am and 4 mile at 10:00am. Register at $17, kids 14 and under $7.

Thanksgiving Day Yoga Workshop
We know how your Thanksgiving Day is going to end (stuffed and napping on Grandma’s couch, right?), so start the day in a healthy state of mind. The goal of today’s vinyasa class is to get the agni (digestive fires) burning, so you’ll be prepared for your feast later on. Pre-registration is suggested.
