In one of those “Why didn’t we think of that?” moments, gift basket entrepreneur Kate Gross decided to organize Ms. Mint’s Holiday Bazaar so shoppers could make their own locally sourced gift baskets—wrapping and shipping included. Fill up your basket with products from more than 50 food makers and nonprofits, including Wild Child Granola, Ethically Engineered, Green Envee Organics and Salted Caramel. The Pritzker Military Library gets good use out of its beautiful new theater with a Saturday movie series. This week it features the classic White Christmas. Yeah, yeah, you’ve seen it a million times. Today watch it in a new light: Military historian Teri Embrey gives an introduction that puts the film in context of WWII, when parts of the movie are set.
