Friday, Jan 13

The Old Town School of Folk Music opened a new building, replete with three dance studios and a dance hall, on January 9. To christen them, the venue throws an affordable series of dance lessons called Global Dance Party, offering a new music genre every Friday. Put your dancin’ shoes on and head there for 8:30pm instruction followed by two hours of live and deejayed music. Tonight plunge into samba: Shimmy to Chicago Samba superstars and Swing Brasileiro. Old Town School of Folk Music East Building, 4545 N Lincoln Ave (773-728-6000). 8:30pm; $10.

If you’d flock anywhere to see your precious favorite DJs, this weekend you’re in luck. They’re playing at cozy Chicago venues for Tomorrow Never Knows Fest. Tonight, see Craig Richards at Smart Bar, Theophilus London at Lincoln Hall, Gauntlet Hair at Schubas and others. Now the only problem is: How are you going to choose? Venues vary. About 9pm; average ticket $15.
