CSU Department of Theatre and Dance Sends an Invitation Unlike Any Other with ‘Blood Wedding’

Thursday/Friday/Saturday @ 7:30pm
Sunday @ 2:00pm

Cleveland State University’s Department of Theatre and Dance, a Resident Company of Playhouse Square, will present Federico GarcÍa Lorca’s passionate “Blood Wedding” April 7-17, 2016 at the Helen Rosenfeld Lewis Bialosky Lab Theatre, Playhouse Square. The play will be directed by CSU Associate Professor Holly Holsinger.

Tickets may be purchased by phone at 216.241.6000, online at or in person at the State Theatre Ticket Office, located at 1519 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland. Regular ticket prices range from $5.00 to $10.00. Tickets may also be purchased at the Allen Theatre complex 60-minutes prior to each show. A special, limited one-night $25.00 Dinner and a Show offering will be available in conjunction with Elements Bistro on Friday, April 15, 2016 by pre-reservation only with code DIN.

“Told through a magical and poetic lens, this classic tale of passion, love and rebellion erupts into an explosive end. The result is something both stunning and shocking,” says director Holsinger.

The Mother has lost all of her family in feuds with the Felix family, except for her youngest son, the Bridegroom. She arranges his wedding to The Bride, who is loved by young, already-married Leonardo Felix. Leonardo and The Bride run away, to be guided by The Beggar Woman (Death) and The Moon (A Young Woodcutter) toward their inevitable fate.

The cast includes CSU students Jeremy Adkins, Cheyenne Bizon, Dominique Coppella, Zionna Corothers, Nadia Davis, Caitlin Hathaway, TJ Hayes, Katie Huskey, Malik Jones, Georgiana Lascu, Jamie Maxwell, Matthew Michels, Natalie Phillips, Roberta Robinson, Peter Sherman, Kimberly Simbeck, Angelique Williams, and Eric Wloszek.
