Baseball Heritage Museum says
September marks the 70th anniversary of the 1945 Negro League World Champion Cleveland Buckeyes. On September 18, 1945 the Buckeyes defeated the Homestead Grays of future Hall of Famers Josh Gibson, Buck Leonard and Cool Papa Bell 5-0 to complete a four game sweep and bring another baseball championship to Cleveland. The Buckeyes were led by catcher and player-manager Quincy Trouppe, future National League Rookie of the Year Sam Jethroe, and Willie Grace.

One day after the anniversary, on Saturday, September 19, we will talk about the Buckeyes and Black baseball in Cleveland at our monthly BHM Forum. Join us at the museum at 1 PM for a lively and informal discussion.
