AFRICOBRA began at the height of the Civil Rights Movement when a group of Chicago-based artists made it their mission to effect positive change with images and artworks that affirmed and uplifted the Black community.

This program will include a screening of the documentary film, "AFRICOBRA: Art for the People," followed by a panel discussion with Jae and Wadsworth Jarrell (two of the movement’s founders), and Carolyn Lawrence (an AFRICOBRA artist), moderated by The Sound of Applause Host/Senior Producer, Dee Perry.
