Threaded says
HEDGE Gallery welcomes local artists Libby Chaney, Rebecca Cross and Jessica Pinsky to exhibit their most recent textile installations in a collaborative show titled, Threaded. The Gallery walls will be manipulated with multiple series, including prints, large scale weavings, and collages, created to communicate the beauty of the relationship between the artists and their fabric mediums.
The use of language, poetry in particular, has influenced the artists to incorporate words, sometimes written but more often unspoken, into the direction of lines, fields of color, and movement of material in their most recent works.
Persistence of memory, the ephemeral nature of life and the permanence of beauty are ever present themes for these three female artists, which are documented through their variety of practices such as hand dying, bonding, weaving and screen printing processes. Their use of fabric is relative to it being a central material for human life and existence. Therefore the works can’t be defined as “fabric art”; instead an art form using an ancient medium to navigate thoughts into actual form.

“THREADED” opens Friday February 19, 5:00-9:00p, at HEDGE Gallery, located at 1300 West 78th Street, Suite 200 in the 78th Street Studios complex.

Works will be on display through April 16, 2016.
