A quite unique corner in a city that is already well supplied with eccentricities, CukariKafe brings all kinds of strange images to mind. It's a bit like drinking in a cross between a modern art gallery, a film set for a children's fairy-tale adventure, and a passenger steamer cruising up the River Nile. This multitude of impressions is sparked by an interior that features while walls, white-painted furniture with elegantly bendy legs, pale-coloured wooden boards that look like ship's decking, and a deftly chosen mixture of cooky crockery and vintage domestic appliances. Everything about the place exudes character: the list of speciality beers includes not just Duvel and Chimay but several less-well-known Belgian brands as well. And unless you specify otherwise, tea will be served not with milk, but with a dandy slice of fresh orange.
