Amid the high-rise blocks of Vrbik lies one of Zagreb’s most agreeable suburban surprises. This tiny white box of a restaurant (there’s room for only 12 diners at a time) is only open during the daytime and offers the most minimal of menus, but earns high praise from those who lunch here on a regular basis. Five or six daily dishes plus a dessert are chalked up on the daily menu board - Perica’s homemade pastas usually take up the first few places, and there’s often an inexpensive ćušpajz (chunky thick soup of the day) to keep the cheap-lunchers happy. The standard-issue basket of delicious house bread only serves to confirm Perica’s status as one of the outstanding culinary bargains in the city.
