Fact: Dallas’s best hotels set the bar for hotels across the state. It could be something to do with the fact the city is one of the most tourist- and business-friendly of them all, thus, has stays that cater to an international crowd looking for more than just your typical Southern comforts. Best hotels in Dallas

What do you get when you check into a Virgin Hotel? Glitz and a bucket load of fun; the Dallas edition is easily one of the coolest hangouts in Texas. This Design District wonder is not only home to a trendy restaurant, the Commons Club, and the Funny Library Coffee Shop, but it also boasts a sexy fourth-floor rooftop pool and bar with views skyline views, including that of the Dallas Reunion Tower. Rooms and suites are design-forward and come with the latest in smart tech, from sensor lighting to wireless charging, and we can confirm the (free) WiFi is strong throughout the entire building (Work from the pool, anyone?). Pricing here is exceptionally fair (by Dallas standards), so do a suite and invite your pals for a SMEG-chilled drink on plush sofas, get ready together in the huge walk-in closet with a celebrity-style make-up dresser, or order champagne to the massive circular soaking tub (bath bubbles courtesy of Red Flower vegan wellness products). Hybrid beds with ergonomic headboards allow for a variety of seated positions and lounging, and pets can join you for free.

Mood? The perfect pre-night-out hangout (and next-day recuperation spot).
Location perks? In the heart of the Design District.
Budget range? Pricier but well worth it.
Time Out tip: Pack your swimwear and make the most of that rooftop pool.

If there’s one building to best showcase Dallas city glamor and the Arts District’s creativity, this is it. HALL Arts Hotel is one of our favorite stays of the moment, a tower that’s not just a part of the district, but a true extension of it. Think of it as the love child of a genius tech entrepreneur and a minimalist contemporary art museum. Rooms and suites beautifully combine two worlds; clean white spaces curated with enormous photography canvases and playful mantelpiece ornaments; futuristic tech like smart lighting systems, electronic drapes and telephones that look like Hollywood movie gadgets; and of course all the comforts you’d expect of a hotel. Fluffy gray robes, slippers, Nespresso coffee makers and sumptuous Natura Bissé bath products. Some options come with bathtubs that could pass as MOMA installations. In terms of amenities, there’s a gym equipped with Matrix equipment and Peloton bicycles, a rooftop pool and gardens, and Ellie’s, where we highly recommend the incredible HALL wines.

Mood? Sunday morning art gallery vibes.
Location perks? An Arts District landmark loved by creative types.
Budget range? Higher-end, but you get what you pay for.
Time Out tip: If anyone calls, we’ll be taking a bath.

The Joule’s a special stay in the heart of Dallas. Outside, a Neo-Gothic work of art that dates back to the 20s; inside, old-world opulence meets contemporary design, made to pop thanks to the hotel's extensive art collection. Rooms and suites too, follow the same ethos. Expect dark hardwood floors, disco metallic surfaces, pendant lights and frost-glass showers. Downstairs, the dining options all carry equal weight. There’s Sassetta, an Italian restaurant with Tuscan-inspired décor where you’ll find amazing pasta; CBD Provisions, a modern Texas brasserie; and Weekend, a third-wave coffee shop. For late-night (inventive) drinks and music, the subterranean The Midnight Rambler bar is a must. The most striking feature of the hotel is its cantilevered pool overlooking Main Street, seasonal and open to guests only. The hotel provides an excellent concierge service and has a fleet of cars to take guests anywhere within close radius, and there’s a lovely boutique lobby level if you want to take a piece of The Joule home with you.

Mood? Low-lit earth tones and envy-inducing artworks.
Location perks? Right in the heart of it all.
Budget range? Mid-to-high end.
Time Out tip: Did we already mention that pool?

You’ll escape the city the moment you check into the Four Seasons here in Las Colinas; the massive property is a sun-kissed oasis of lush green golf courses, glistening pools part-shaded by trees, and fireplace-dotted evening spaces. There’s also a huge golf and sports club, where every fitness and wellness endeavor is catered to, and the adjoined spa and salon only adds to the ‘world of its own’ feeling. And that’s not all. Overnight guests get the full Four Seasons works—attention to detail and quality beyond compare. Studio-style villas, for example, are appointed with their own private lawn and personal firepit from which to enjoy the sunset over; large living spaces are arranged with couch seating by the white shuttlers; a king bed with ample fluffy pillows to sink into; and a marble bathroom carrying silky L'Occitane products to pour into deep soak tub. There’s really no need to leave when everything is right here. Absolute bliss.

Mood? Mahogany, velvet and some very polished cutlery.
Location perks? A true respite for any city fatigue.
Budget range? Getting steeper, but we’re talking luxury here.
Time Out tip: Settle in for a night around your personal firepit.

  • Turtle Creek
  • price 3 of 4

The Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek was originally built as a private residence in 1925, inspired by European art and architecture. Original features like the hand-carved fireplaces and stained-glass windows have been preserved and restored and coexist with modern design elements. The 128 rooms and 15 suites all come with romantic balconies, Nespresso coffee machines and minibars, marble bathrooms with bespoke and DS & Durga products, and, of course, the latest tech. Mirrors accentuate the size of the rooms; the whole feel is Chanel dashed on Renaissance-style architecture. The pool has St Tropez written all over it. Fitting because the hotel is in one of Dallas’ poshest neighborhoods and conveniently a short drive from downtown for which complimentary car service is provided (or anywhere else within a five-mile radius). The Mansion Bar and The Mansion Restaurant are two fine destinations in their own right.

Mood? Decadence and then some.
Location perks? Another world – but only two miles from the city center.
Budget range? For when you’re ready to splash the cash.
Time Out tip: Wine and dine onsite, fireside.

Located on famed McKinney Avenue, The Ritz-Carlton is Dallas decadence. You’re welcomed by impeccably dressed gentlepersons upon stepping through the grand lobby, where a multitude of amenities awaits. There’s Fearing’s Restaurant (indoor or outdoor seating available), a luxurious spa, salon, fitness center, and heated outdoor swimming pool. 218 rooms and suites exude old charm meets modern touches. If you’re going to stay at the RC, do it right; the Ritz-Carlton Club Level experience is the only one of its kind in Dallas, with its own dedicated concierge, complimentary internet in the lounge, and included food and beverage presentations from breakfast to night time dessert. Club bathroom pamper products are by Asprey, best enjoyed in the marble bathroom’s oversized soaking tubs.

Mood? Go luxe or go home.
Location perks? Super close to Cowboys Stadium.
Budget range? It’s the Ritz-Carlton, sweetie.
Time Out tip: Book yourself in for some spa-time pronto.

Perched in the heart of fashionable Uptown Dallas, Hotel ZaZa is easy walking distance from the business and nightlife of Uptown and McKinney Street and a stone’s throw away from the concert venues and museums of the Dallas Arts District. What we love about this elegant hotel is the personality of all the guestrooms and concept suites. Think bold African prints dancing with vintage Hollywood photography, and an exterior reminiscent of Sicilian Renaissance architecture in Spanish adobe hues. Of course, y’all get a bit of the Big D here too—spacious rooms with more USB ports than you have devices, thick king beds and wide marble bathrooms. There are no coffee-making facilities in the room, however, there is free caffeine available on your floor in the morning. Water is provided in eco-friendly glassware. For something extra special, check out their Magnificent Seven suites, which we hear come in unique concepts such as Zen and Far East. ZaZa also has a brilliant poolside area, a tranquil spa, and chic restaurant and lounge, Dragonfly, that’s one of our fave meals in town.

Mood? Big, bold and beautiful.
Location perks? You’ll be living in an uptown world.
Budget range? Relatively expensive, but not as expensive as some.
Time Out tip: Draw inspo from the décor and dress to impress.

The result of European materials and design and Texan charm and hospitality, the Crescent Court is an elegant and sophisticated hotel in the heart of the Uptown neighborhood in Dallas. Business travelers and visitors will find themselves within five minutes of the financial district and walking distance of the country’s largest arts district. The lavish rooms and suites reflect Southern gentility. The suites include a separate seating area, a kitchenette, a shower or soaking tub, and comfortable King and Queen size beds. Dining options at the hotel vary from the contemporary Japanese cuisine of Nobu to a private dining club, from light bites and cocktails at Beau’s to breakfast with garden views at The Conservatory.
