The Oak Cliff Cultural Center presents Tierra Firme by fiber artists Analise Minjarez and Sarita Westrup. Tierra Firme will be on view January 23 – February 20, 2015 at the Oak Cliff Cultural Center, 223 W Jefferson Blvd., Dallas, TX 75211.
The Oak Cliff Cultural Center will host a reception for the artists on Saturday, January 31st, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.
About the Exhibit
Tierra Firme showcases the individual and collaborative works by Analise Minjarez and Sarita Westrup, two fibers artists from the borderlands of Texas and Mexico. Their installations and sculptural works respond to the geographic and bicultural location of the artists’ home. They utilize multiple media, such as wood, natural dyed cloth, nets, paper, and gut to dissect borders and explore concepts of cultural identity in relationship to place.
About the Artists
Analise Minjarez and Sarah Westrup co-founded Prismatic Earth, a fibers collective based in Dallas,TX and teach workshops throughout the state. Minjarez and Westrup received their B.F.A in Fibers from the University of North Texas and currently live and work in Denton,TX.
