Freeman's Issue Release Party With John Freeman And Amanda Rea says
Join us for the launch of the second issue of Freeman’s Magazine, featuring editor and founder John Freeman, who will discuss the power and importance of family stories, the many forms they take, and his role in curating them. We’ll also hear a brief reading from Lighthouse instructor Amanda Rea, whose work was chosen for the magazine after Freeman encouraged her to dig more deeply into a forgotten family anecdote. A Q&A will follow. Drinks, snacks, and fun included.

John Freeman is a writer, editor, and book critic. He has published two books of nonfiction, a collection of poetry, and edited two anthologies about inequality in the United States. He is the former editor of Granta, executive editor of The Literary Hub, and a prolific book reviewer.

In his acclaimed new literary magazine. Freeman’s, he brings together new voices with beloved authors like Haruki Murakami, Marlon James, Sandra Cisneros, Louise Erdrich and Lydia Davis. Published twice a year, the journal has been called “diverse and global,” “provocative and engrossing,” and the San Francisco Chronicle says it is “sure to become a classic.”
