Copyrights in the Music Industry — What You Need to Know

Copyright can be confusing but copyright in the music industry is twice as confusing because there can be two copyrights in each piece of music. This presentation will cover the details of how copyright applies to music and the various exploitations and revenue streams that result. Composition vs. Master? Mechanical License vs. Sync License? Theatrical public performance vs. Non-theatrical public performance? PRO, ASCAP, BMI, SESAC? Dave Ratner will address the basics and the specifics of what you need to know to represent clients in the music industry.
