Denver Museum of Nature & Science says
In May 2016, the first comprehensive exhibition of the work of Vasily Konovalenko opened at the Kremlin Museum in Moscow. The exhibition includes three of the Russian artist’s gem carvings on loan from the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, home to the largest collection of “Konovalenkos.” For seven years, Dr. Steve Nash, curator of archaeology, and Rick Wicker, Museum photographer, traveled the globe—collaborating with the Konovalenko family and doing some sleuthing to track down nearly all of Konovalenko’s work. Get the scoop on Nash and Wicker’s adventures, which culminated with the Kremlin exhibition and the new book Stories in Stone: The Enchanted Gem Carvings of Vasily Konovalenko. A book sale & signing will follow the lecture.
