2016 Kwanzaa Celebrations At The Wright says
The African American tradition of Kwanzaa was created by Dr. Maulana Karenga as a means to help African Americans reconnect with their African cultural and historical heritage by uniting in meditation and study of African traditions and Nguzo Saba, the “seven principles of African Heritage.” Kwanzaa is observed from December 26 - January 1 and features candle lighting ceremonies, African drumming and dance, musical performances, and more! These family-friendly events are FREE and open to the public. Kwanzaa programming is made possible by the support of Comerica Bank.
