"Bike Woodward" Support A Walkable And Rideable Woodward says
This is an 11-mile bike ride hosted by by the Woodward Avenue Action Association and by DTE. The ride leaves Highland Park to Pleasant Ridge and goes through neighborhood streets and back along Woodward. This is designed as a launch event for the association’s efforts to build bike lanes on Woodward from McNichols to I-696.

That project would happen in two phases: from McNichols to 8 Mile and 8 Mile to I-696. The McNichols to 8 Mile portion would take longer to accomplish, but be designed with permanent protected bike lanes at sidewalk height along Woodward.

The northern section would be more temporary in nature initially, with painted lanes, until an expected reconstruction of Woodward in the next few years - along with options for walking and mass transit. In summary - this is a great event if you believe Woodward can be a better road and a better place for all.

The eventual goal is for bike lanes that would connect the Detroit Riverfront to the Detroit Zoo in Royal Oak and beyond.

This is an easy ride for a good cause. $25 gets you a shirt and a "goodie bag".
