Take a break from the holidays and enjoy a night out at the Detroit Institute of Arts to celebrate the opening of "Bitter|Sweet: Coffee, Tea & Chocolate." Enjoy performances by Xiao Dong Wei and Britney Stoney, appetizers, a cash bar and the first DIA exhibition to engage all five senses.

"Bitter|Sweet: Coffee, Tea & Chocolate," on view Sunday, Nov. 20 through Sunday, March 5, 2017, explores the introduction of coffee, tea and chocolate to Europe, beginning the in late 16th century. Among the nearly 70 works of art are rare examples of porcelain and metalwork, paintings, prints and sculptures.

Xiao Dong Wei has been featured on NPR and performed as a guest soloist with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. She will perform contemporary and classical Chinese music.

2014 Kresge Arts Fellow and Detroit native, singer, songwriter, guitarist and producer Britney Stoney will perform energized music inspired by the coffee house.
